Transparency

We like to be open and transparent about our pricing so that there are no surprises for you or us.

This page tells you about our basic fee structure and policies. Special rates are available for charities and other good causes and, if we have time, we sometimes offer free and reduced rate services for people struggling financially. Please reach out to us for details.

Project fees (for copywriting, writing, editing, and consulting.)

We charge by the project unless you hire us on a retainer basis (see below).

Due to time constraints, our current minimum fee for a project is ¥100,000 (one hundred thousand Japanese Yen).
Unfortunately, we can't accept any projects for under ¥100,000 unless you are a returning client.

Retainer fees (for copywriting, writing, editing, and consulting.)

If you need writing, editing, copywriting, or consulting on an ongoing basis, you can hire us on retainer, which gets you a discounted rate and priority service. The minimum fee per month is ¥80,000 (eighty thousand Japanese Yen), which guarantees a minimum of 8 hours per month devoted to your work.

The maximum number of hours we are currently able to offer on retainer is 20 hours per month, which currently costs ¥190,000. (one hundred and ninety thousand Japanese Yen.)

How we work

Please contact us by email with an outline of your project, including the timeframe, budget, goals, etc. We try to respond within one week to let you know if we're able to help you (we won't waste your time if we don't think we're able to help). At that time, we'll give you a quote and outline of the project from our side, including the scope, timeframe, and, of course, the project fee.

If we both agree to start the project, you'll need to pay 50% of the fee up front (by bank transfer). The final 50% becomes payable once the project is completed.

Please not that unless you are based in the Greater Tokyo area, all correspondence will be by email, sometimes by video conferencing when appropriate.
